5 Pump Square, Boston
5 Pump Square is a Grade II Listed Building within Boston town centre, a market town of Lincolnshire. It is also within the Boston Town Centre Conservation Area. A Heritage Statement was requested by the Local Authority.
Theatre and Heritage consultants was asked to look at proposals for internal and external alterations to a Georgian town house now used as a dental practice.
Internal alterations involved subdividing the main hallway and providing a new access to the dental reception in order to give a more efficient layout for the NHS dental practice.
Although the domestic plan form of a Georgian terraced house is important to its character and integrity, with careful consideration of the significance of the listed building, the needs of the practice could be met without harm to the special interest. Mark Price Theatre and Heritage consultants was able to justify why the proposals sustained the significance of the heritage asset.
Research was undertaken looking at historic town and Ordinance Survey maps illustrating that the building was constructed in the 18th Century and extended Northwards in 19th Century. This was key in unlocking some reasoned arguments for the proposals.
A Heritage Statement was provided that made arguments for the interventions.
