Heritage Recording Reports

Heritage Recording Reports create a record of what exists prior to alterations and forms part of the Historic Environment Record (HER).

Why is a Heritage Recording Report Required

A Council may require heritage recording as part of the planning process.  Recording is also necessary when a condition is attached to a relevant Planning Permission or Listed Building Consent.

The NPPF [at 218] suggests that local planning authorities should make information about heritage assets publicly accessible.  Such recording reports form part of the Historic Environment Record and deposited with a local museum or other public depository.

If you are not sure if a Recording Report is required, please contact us.

Your Heritage Recording Report

Theatre and Heritage can provide you with a Recording Report that will satisfy the Council’s requirements.  It will adopt the Level stipulated by the Planning Condition normally Historic England’s Levels 1 to 4.

A report will usually include a written description and a full historical and architectural analysis of the asset, supported by drawings, photographic evidence, or research in documentary sources, or both.
