The preparation of a conservation plan encourages those with the responsibility for a Listed Building to think about it in a sustainable way, to assess how and why it is significant, and how it should be managed in order to conserve the cultural significance. Some grant funding organisations such as the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) request a Conservation Plan as part of the grant application.
Theatre and Heritage can prepare a Conservation Plan that will describe the heritage asset; explain why it is significant and to whom; its future and what are the key issues to be aware of to sustain its future. Moreover, Theatre and Heritage can set out a framework of policies that will help make decisions about how to look after the asset in a usable and simple way. The Plan will include clear-cut diagrams, illustrations and photographs to make it user-friendly.
